41 Blogs & Blog Posts I Loved in 2014

Who else is excited about 2015?!?! Please, tell me someone is just as excited as I am about one of the greatest years I'll ever experience. Come the beginning of May, I'll be graduating high school and just three short months after that I'll be moving into an entirely different city in an entirely different environment pursuing a career as a dermatologist and small business owner. And not to mention all of the dramatic steps I'll be taking in making my blog bigger and better as well as figuring out who I am and what I'm going to be in the coming years. I'm so so so excited I can barely contain it! But before I jump the gun and head into 2015 prematurely (mentally, that is. obviously.) let's take a look back at the last 12 months with my favorite blogs and blog posts from 2014. Enjoy and HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Today Is The Day

Steal Time Back (formerly known as Tiny Time Machines) was THE first small business I ever consciously purchased from and was the brand that single-handedly introduced me to the small business retail world on Instagram. Now I've discovered sooo sooo many brands on Instagram and my Paypal account can testify to the fact that many of them have lead to many, MANY purchases.

With every new piece added to the Steal Time Back collection, I'm reminded of the ever-so-important mantra they have built their company on: "Be Here Now."  Here's a snippet one of their most popular posts (okay, so I don't know that for sure, but it's really good so I think it's pretty likely) from the Steal Time Back blahg (yes, I did say blaahhgg, not blog) where they share pieces of inspiration and motivation to steal time back and live in the present. Live like there's no tomorrow!
Be here Now. xo Munachi

Today Is The Day
today is the day, let’s go out and play
don’t be afraid, nothing is late
I want you to know, all highs and lows
that life will bring, and still dance and sing
even when you’re blue, don’t forget to do
what’s in your heart, and life can be art
tomorrow’s a lie, go tell it goodbye
yesterday’s gone, bring today on
so don’t sit around, with a big frown
because today is the day, let’s go out and play

A Peak at Christmas

Christmas this year was incredibly rewarding for so many reasons. I got to spend time with my family and just chill out doing whatever wherever. Some of my favorite gifts I received were a Happy Holidaze Packed Party (more on that in the future!), a super soft Juicy Couture scarf and Juicy Couture striped watch, Taylor Swifts 1989 album, and the Second Edition of The Teen Vogue  Handbook (more on that in the future, too!). I'm excited to finally have a real break from all of the pressures of school and college applications without feeling like I'm neglecting my responsibilities. The next several days will be spent with me laying/sitting in front of my laptop for hours on end watching all of the movies and shows I have on my Amazon Prime Watchlist. I finally got around to setting it up over Thanksgiving and just finished the last season of Downton Abbey so I have all the time in the world to watch every other TV show I've ever been interested in.

I hope you all had an absolutely wonderful Christmas. I really, really do! And now I'm going to go back to dancing around to T. Swift in my bedroom.

P.S. right now my favorites from Taylor's 1989 album are "Welcome To New York", "Blank Space" (and yes, I do LOVE the music video), and "How You Get The Girl."

'Tis the season to be the best GG around so slip into your pajamas, grab a cup of peppermint hot chocolate, and snuggle with all of the people you live while watching your favorite Christmas time movies. It's my older sister's birthday so as for me I'll be doing last minute preparations for The Best Christmas Ever (my unofficial title for my family's Christmas this year) and holding an uber-mini celebration for my big sis since she won't be coming home for the Holidays.

And with that, I bid you ado. Merry Christmas and to all a goodnight! XO Munachi

XO Bicyclette

XO, Bicyclette // Behind the Scenes - Bicyclette Boutique
Bicyclette Boutique is going through its final stages and it's nothing but bittersweet on this end of things. It's hard not to look at every post, product feature, sale, or lookbook as just one more step towards the end of Bicyclette. Paige, creative director behind the Bicyclette brand, keeps up a cheery disposition in the Bicyclette blog and @BicycletteBoutique Instagram feed so maintaining the "be in the present" state of mind is becoming easier and easier. Instead of focusing on the closing of the brick-and-mortar Bicyclette Boutique, I'm choosing to embrace the present state of happiness and sparkle of Bicyclette's newest holiday lookbook, aptly titled XO Bicyclette, and the ever-so girly and glamorous Bicyclette website. Take a peep at some of the gorgeous photos from XO Bicyclette featured below and see the entire lookbook on the Bicyclette blog here.

The Best Of The Best Of The Best Holiday Gift Guides

I know, I know... Just last week I shared with you all the "best" holiday gift guides for this year. Now I'm changing my tune and making a new and improved list of gift guides I'm loving this holiday season. Don't be mistaken, each one of the gift guides I mentioned last week from Cupcakes and Cashmere, Our Happy Place,, and especially Teen Vogue are absolutely on my list of must-reads/must-sees. I've gone back to them time and time again within the last month to get gift ideas for my brothers, sisters, best friends, and parents as well as for myself. However, the list just got a little bit longer since I've discovered a few more perfectly glamorous gift guides to fall in love with. Though it's a little late to start buying every pretty thing on each one of these guides, there's plenty of time to oggle at all of these fabulous Christmas wishlists floating around the world wide web.

That's a Wrap!

[Here's a link to the Hi-Res video on the Bicyclette vimeo profile]
This year I was responsible for actually purchasing the items on everyone's Christmas list. Getting to shop plus keeping Christmas traditional with the element of surprise has been the icing on the cake for the coming December 25th festivities. However, now that I have successfully gotten [almost all] the gifts I'm now faced with the task of wrapping them. I am on a search for textured glitter wrapping paper and am hoping to luck out on great holiday-ish gift bags. (Okay, so the gift bags I've picked out so far aren't necessarily holiday themed). This vimeo video by Bicyclette puts me in the glamorous mood to take a little trot through the historic west side district in the Christmas-y white snow and carry exquisitely wrapped gifts everywhere I go with me to spread the holiday cheer. Well, not entirely. Nonetheless, this video has inspired me to step up my wrapping game this year so that my siblings and I can feel like we've had a truly glamorous revelation this Christmas.

A little spirited fun for the perfectly-pretty wrapped gifts type Glamour Girls because I know you all exist and are dying for gift wrapping inspiration in the form of a one minute and fifteen second video. Enjoy!

Color Kitten Christmas

beaded necklace, polka dot headband, 4-pack hair ties: (r-ki-tekt) c/o; "Color Kittens Unite!!!" postcard: (r-ki-tekt) c/o; magazine: Nylon; gold key chain: (r-ki-tekt) c/o

Oh, how I have been waiting for this #HappyMailDay. From post office mix-ups to holiday rush orders, this package from (r-ki-tekt) has been to the North Pole and back before it ended up on my doorstep. Technically, I became a brand ambassador (a Color Kitten, if you will :)) for Kel and her glamorous little brand (r-ki-tekt) back in August, but God's been testing my patience the past 3 1/2 months and has sent ever problem every which way to Kel and I. However, now that I finally have all the random pretty things my heart desires (for right now, at least!) I am set to celebrate Christmas in all it's colorful, sparkly glory.

My first piece of jewelry from the (r-ki-tekt) shop was somewhat of a surprise love. I knew what I was ordering, obviously, but when I actually opened up the box and saw the pink and gold glittered baubles strung on a their chain I became head over heals obsessed. Here we are again almost four months later and I have fallen in love with another one of Kel's pieces, the Briela necklace. My unexpected love for the color scheme of Briela was highlighted by the set of Pony Up hair ties that come in complementary shades/patterns of pink, mint, black and white polka dot, and glittery gold. Even though my absolutely-to-die-for obsession over glamorous hair ties peaked in the summer, I still get super excited when I get more pieces of hair candy.

My collection of (r-ki-tekt) jewels and trinkets keeps getting bigger and bigger with the addition of Simple Pastel beaded necklaces, metallic gold key fobs, and polka dotted wire wrap hair ties. I know I said that I now have all of the random pretty things my heart desires, but I guess I lied because the more (r-ki-tekt) I have the more I want. The Playtime necklace and Gheri beaded necklace w/TasselTail are already on my radar as Etsy must-buys so don't think this will be the last you see of (r-ki-tekt) on A Glamorous Revelation. This is only the beginning...

Notes // Jordan & Packed Party

packed party, happy holidaze, packedparty instagram, fatty sundays, finding ferdinand, custom shade of lipstick, gift guide ideas, biirhday bed, betches, christmas
"Happy Holidaze" Packed Party package
Last week I published the first installment of my new Glamorous Proust Questionnaire series where I "interview" some of my favorite Glamour Girls in the small business industry. Within the past several months of me conducting this little ol' blog you see here and embracing the small business community I've come across tons of independently owned brands that I've been dying to get to know more about and connect with. What better way to do that than to create my own version of the infamous Proust Questionnaire and sharing it here on AGR so that you all can join in on the fun. As a last minute addition to the series, I've decided that after each interview I'll do a little extra digging into the greatness of each brand and share my favorites about the brands, their founder/owners, their products, and their specific Glamorous Proust Questionnaire.

I started off the series with Packed Party and its founder Jordan so they're going to be the shining star for today. I'm still loving her quote "Something I created on my bedroom floor is making someone’s day all the way in Australia or someone in the hospital recovering from something terrible- kinda crazy right?" and am using it as my ultimate motivation to chase my smallest and most insignificant dreams. And the fact that one of her favorite/most played songs is Closer To Love x Mat Kearney, a major favorite of mine, is pretty darn awesome.

I picked Packed Party to start off the series because last week was also my birthday week, but I will admit that I didn't receive a Birthday Beb package for my special day. Instead, I rushed home Monday afternoon on December 1st to order the "Happy Holidaze" package in order to get it before it sold out (which unfortunately it now is). I freaked out when I discovered the HH package had a tube of Finding Ferdinand lipstick and that each one also comes with a box of Fatty Sundays chocolate covered sprinkle pretzels and S.W. Basics cream, all of which are brands I've been dying to try. It turns out that the first batch of HH packages won't have the tube of Redilicious lipstick Jordan picked out, but they will all come with a voucher to get a starter kit from the Finding Ferdinand website to create your own custom shade of lipstick (a $60 value!!!) which is worth more than the entire Packed Party box itself! I won't be opening my "Happy Holidaze" box 'til Chrsitmas, but you can bank on me writing about all of the amazingness inside of it around New Year's Day :)

As for the other packages like the "You Don't Need Him Anyway," "Pity Party," and "Thanks x A Million" on the Packed Party website, they all have a healthy dose of goodies (think earbuds and "love"-ly cuffs), confetti push pops, and LOTS of Rifle Paper Co. What else do I have to say to convince you that you should be ordering a Packed Party for yourself or your best friend right this second?? Oh yeah, each box is only $45 and comes in a cute, navy blue, custom Packed Party box -- no brown or white, ugly Flat Rate Shipping boxes from the post office at the doorstep. Convinced?!? Well, then. Here's a post from the ghost of A Glamorous Revelation past about Packed Party that you should take a peep at. And if you're still not convinced then I'm afraid you've got an imagination filled with black dust and cobwebs and need to have a little more FUN.

Blended Berries

I'm not a review blogger. I don't spend my days emailing brands for samples so that I can spend the next 2-10 weeks (depending on the products, obviously!) testing them out and writing about their pros and cons on my blog. Don't get me wrong, I do draft a number of emails asking small business owners if they'd be interested in sending me products for me to write about and one of the main goals of A Glamorous Revelation is to introduce small businesses and products I've discovered to you lovely readers. But I'm not one to regurgitate product facts and take up two paragraphs telling you how awesome the packaging is. I want to make my "reviews" (oh how much I hate calling them that) personal and fun while still expressing my honest feelings about a product whether those feelings are glamorous or not. With that being said, now it should be 10x easier for you to try and understand the "review" I'm about to write :)

I'm a perfume girl in that I love trying new fragrances and finding new signature scents, but I'm not going to pretend to be an expert and tell you about the different layers and smells involved with my newest favorite perfume Adele by Callio Fragrance. Adele is incredibly unique and has such an intense smell that the each time I inhale the unexpectedly warm scent I'm catapulted into a different mindset. It produces what can best be described as a glamorous revelation -- something simple and seemingly insignificant that instantly makes me feel more glamorous and sophisticated. The most prominent note in Adele is blackberry and is mixed with red rose and vanilla. The blackberry scent is the most distinct part of the the entire fragrance since it creates a demure berry scent that isn't typically found in everyday parfums. With just one spritz on the wrists and another on the chest, I leave a memory of Adele with every one I come face-to-face with.

Along with a full sized bottle of Adele I was sent a rollerball perfume of Kiele, a blend of jasmine, gardenia, and tuberose. Oddly enough, Kiele has two completely different scents. The first reminds me of a super great smelling shampoo that you'd wash, rinse, and repeat three times just to smell the suds. Then after about five minutes it transforms into an almost identical fragrance to Juicy Couture's original namesake parfum. Kiele lasts just as long, smells just as amazing, but unlike Juicy Couture's parfum it isn't tested on animals and costs half the price. Kiele is the definition of a luxe product with guilt free prices blended in an ethical environment. No surprise there since it's Callio Fragrance's most popular fragrance. Win-win-win!

Both Adele and Kiele can be purchased as rollerballs for $16 each or as full size 1oz bottle for $34 from the Callio Fragrance website. So what do ya think?? Did I do a good job? Let me know what you think of Callio Fragrance, which scent is your favorite, and if you've never tried it but reeallly reeeaaalllyy want to :)

The Best Gift Guides This Season

It's a little late to post a gift guide, isn't it... Or maybe not. Well whatever, I guess.  I do what I want  and I absolutely want to write about gift guides because gift guides are my faavvooorriiiitee. Going back to my love for flat layouts, gift guides are a glorified and very shoppable version of the classic flat-lay. Every year I spend a few extra hours at Books-A-Million reading the December issue of every fashion magazine I can get my hands on or stopping by Wally World to buy ever magazine that promises a glamorous gift guide. This year I've taken the digital route and indulged in the many, MANY gift guides of internet. With so many of them floating around the world wide web already, I see no need to create one of my own this time around, but I have compiled a list of links to my favorite gift guides so far from some of the best gift guide makers around. Feast your eyes and indulge your wallets, my dear fashion loving Glamour Girls because Christmas is coming and you need to be guided in your gift giving endeavors.

A Glamorous Proust Questionnaire: Packed Party

Thank God it's Friday! Today just so happens to be my eighteenth birthday and I've decided that it would be the perfect time to start my newest and probably one of my favorite series so far: The Glamorous Proust Questionnaire! I've wanted to have the chance to interview a few of my favorite brands' creators for a long time now and have been trying to find the best time to conduct this series since June. Now that the wait is finally over, I thought it most fitting to start of with Packed Party, a brand rooted in celebration and having a good time. As inspired by the Proust Questionnaire Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen filled out in their coffee table book Influence, I sent Jordan, the founder of Packed Party, my revised version known as The Glamorous Proust Questionnaire. I asked her several different questions, but one of my absolute favorite things she said was when I asked her what it was like to be in the business of sending super fun, glam care packages. She responded, "Something I created on my bedroom floor is making someone’s day all the way in Australia or someone in the hospital recovering from something terrible- kinda crazy right?" To think that so many of us are just one big brainstorm away from creating our dream jobs and finding our niche is ridiculously inspiring. I know what I want to do in life, but I also know that there's room for so many more exciting things to happen like discovering my passion in the middle of the night in my dorm room.

Some of my other favorites from her Glamorous Proust Questionnaire have to do with what it's like to pick items for each Packed Party package, what's at the top of her Rich Girl Wishlist, which Packed Party is her favorite, and what the top five songs on her iPod are. The entire questionnaire is written below with a few Instagram pics from @PackedParty (like the contents of the newest package "Happy Holidaze" which was released this Monday and is already almost sold out!) so scroll on down and fall in love with Jordan and her small business, Packed Party! (** yes, I know there are two number elevens at the end, but for the life of me I can't figure out how to fix it. oops.)

"You Don't Need Him Anyway" Packed Party package
"Happy Holidaze" Packed Party packages
The Glamorous Proust Questionnaire
with Jordan from Packed Party

  1. Which Packed Party is your favorite? That’s a difficult question honestly. I think each package directly relates to an experience I have had, gift I’ve wanted, or given someone, so no single one is really my “favorite”. The idea of being able to send a Pity Party started Packed Party for me so it always stands out first in my mind and holds a special place in my heart.

  1. Knowing what you know now, what would you tell your past self when you were first starting out? I’m still learning something new every single day! There’s a lot I wish I knew when I first started Packed Party a year ago. The most important thing I might tell myself is just to take it all in strides. I’m a very “now” person with everything I do, so I know now sometimes the best decisions aren’t made when you impulsively act...on the other hand some are.

  1. What is your #1 source of inspiration? Walking. I try and go for a walk every single day by myself at some point and just kinda seek out inspiration in colors, sounds, and random things around me.

  1. Name one item that you’d buy if you suddenly won the lottery or inherited a large sum of money? One item? Hmm, that’s difficult! I think I’d definitely put the money toward a trip with my family and friends somewhere none of us have been. Limited wifi. No phones. Just hanging out would be really nice since we’re all living so far apart right now. Shockingly no single tangible item is coming to mind. You don’t need “things” when you have amazing people surrounding you!

  1. What are the top 5 most played songs on your iPod/phone? I listen to songs on repeat constantly...if you follow my Spotify account it’s a bit embarrassing because I’ll have friends catch me listening to a single song all day while I work. Weird, right? There’s a good chance if you’re listening in you’d hear:
- Closer To Love by Mat Kearney has always been one of my favorite songs, I can listen to         it happy or sad and it just makes me feel that much better
-Don’t Wanna Be Your Girl by Wet I’ve been running and spinning to a lot. I love female ballad type songs...yes, I am such a girl.
-To Me by Chet Faker. His voice is ah-mazing and I listen to this song all the time while I work.
- She Lit A Fire Lord Huron. This song never gets old. You can bet I’ll be walking down the aisle somewhere someday to this song.
-Love Lost by Temper Trap has been on a lot because it was our Packed Party One Year’s video and it’s also a song I really like. I’ve listened to Temper Trap for a long time and always liked their music.

  1. Fill in the blanks: My life would be _significantly more interesting__ if I had an unlimited supply of _frequent flyer miles from American Airlines so I could travel the world.

  1. What is the first thing you do when you wake up in the morning? Sadly..check my phone, then brush my teeth, and head straight for my coffee maker.

  1. What is the most embarrassing thing that has ever happened to you? Ha! Anyone who really knows me knows that I’m that person that everything that normally wouldn’t  happen to...happens to. We always say my life is a bit like a sitcom, so I’ve come to accept my unfortunate situations and laugh at them. The most embarrassing though? Off the top of my head I can remember being in the bahamas and having a few local men help me on to my jetski while my family and a few of our family friends sort of watched all of us take off...only as I was getting on my jetski I somehow managed to put my hand down on my bottoms thus exposing my bottom half to the entire beach. Not mortifying at all, nope.

  1. What is one thing you’re looking forward to during the Holidays? My family is actually having our first ever “pie challenge” this year. I’ve never baked a pie by myself from scratch so we’re doing guys against girls and giving it a whirl. I’m also really excited to snuggle with my dogs, a bernese mountain dog, Boone, and Huckleberry, my king charles cavalier many people have seen on Packed Party’s Instagram.

  1. What is your favorite TV show, movie, book, or blog? Real Housewives of New Jersey has been my show since it first aired. It’s such trash t.v. but I can’t help myself! I may or may not even have a cook book somewhere from Teresa Guidice. My favorite book would be The Help by Kathryn Stockett, and I don’t have a single blog I read on a consistent basis. Can Packed Party’s blog be my answer here? :)

  1. What’s the process like picking out items for each Packed Party package? It’s really fun when there’s some time between re-orders. Because we’re not a subscription service we map out inventory and when we should re-order, but sometimes we’ll take an unexpected hit over night for a ton of orders and I’m in a place where I am having to order a lot quicker than I imagined. This is why there’s so much planning involved in picking items for packages. We sort of have to keep vendors on standby and I’m always looking for new and creative products to feature which is a lot of fun. I definitely come across some odd thing!

  1. your favorite part of being in the business of sending super fun “care packages” to glamorous girls all around the world? I get to aid in making someone’s day and that’s really cool to me. I save all of the emails we get from customers saying what they are going through when they receive their Packed Party package and their stories amaze me! Something I created on my bedroom floor is making someone’s day all the way in Australia or someone in the hospital recovering from something terrible- kinda crazy right? Bringing joy and encouraging women to start their own parties in life for themselves or someone else is a very rewarding thing.

Saturday's Selections

As you know, Small Business Saturday, Cyber Monday, and Black Friday were all this past weekend. If you're anything like me you took advantage of the 40-60% off deals from your favorite stores and did an insane amount of shopping. Where I live, most of the local boutiques did their big sales on Black Friday so I didn't go out much on Small Business Saturday. And I will admit that some of the things I've purchased within the past several days have been because I really wanted them and simply couldn't wait any longer to buy them. Indulging in the sales at the end of last week was great and I am incredibly happy with all of the things I ordered and picked up within the last week and a half. Here are some quick, black and white photos of the highlights from my most recent shopping escapades: a sequin detailed silk dress, the "Happy Holidaze" Packed Party, and a collection of fashion books from Amazon. More amazing things I got that aren't pictured are a pair of black wedge booties, a pink and green rhinestone statement necklace, a Sangria scented candle, a unicorn ring holder/display, T.Swift and Ariana Grande albums, and Library of Flowers perfume creme in "The Forest."

My Little Obsession: DDSLL Girls Lingerie

ddsll girls,, lingerie, panties, handmade, bra, bralette, etsy, instagram, SCARLETT / Floral satin and lace lingerie set / Ready to ship
I hardly own any fancy, expensive underwear but there's no denying that the garments that cover you underneath can make you feel just as glamorous and fabulous as what you wear on the outside. I feel 10x more amazing when I'm wearing a pair of cute, frilly underwear than I do when I'm wearing a pair of old, plain colored panties regardless of the fact that no one sees it other than myself. Same goes for bras and bralettes. I love a nice, fancy bra to wear under my clothes as a fun little secret boost of confidence. Okay, so it goes without saying that I am IN LOVE with DDSLL Girls and their selection of handmade undergarments. Dress.Dance.Sing.Love.Live., DDSLL Girls for short, has an amazing collection of floral and lace bras, silky bralettes, hipster undies, high-waisted panties, and just straight up gorgeously designed underwear. I discovered this European gem on Instagram and have wanted at least one pair of floral and lace underwear since I spent almost an hour fawning over their Etsy shop. Some of my favorite bras and panties are decked out in lilac flowers and pink lace detailing or grey frills and satin bows while others have bedazzled beads and bright colored tulle. Even for those of you who, like me, "have no reason to have expensive undergarments" think of it as a treat to yourself and your inner Glam Girl because I know that everything that DDSLL Girls has to offer will have you feeling like you can take on the world once you wear it. And don't forget: Christmas is right around the corner and a glamorous pair of underwear is a perfect gift.
