Winter Pastels

Happy Friday, Everyone! I am still not back into the routine of things now that the holidays are over. These freezing temperatures are getting less bearable each day while putting me weeks behind in school. Spring and summer cannot come soon enough, in my opinion. With the way things are going, however, this sweater might be the closest I'll be to anything spring or summer related for a while. This sweater I stole from my mother's closet some years ago works surprisingly well into my mid-winter wardrobe despite its slightly mocking spring/summer pastel color. In the past, I have reserved this sweater (and an identical one in lavender) for the very last weeks of winter as a winter-to-spring transition piece, but in a desperate grasp for a warm weather reminder, I threw it on. Let's hope I don't regret indulging in short sleeves and pastels in January.

9 Internet Posts I Loved This Month

1. CFDA/NFL: Got $248-$2,200 to blow? Buy a couture football helmet.

2. Instagram : Why is this so funny?! Can't. Stop. Laughing.

3. Fashionista: Further proof (as if we needed more) that Emma Watson is fantabulous.

4. Twitter: This picture showed up on my twitter feed multiple times this month and I love it! Because it's funny and cute and because I truly miss #TeamValdaya

5. The Man Repeller: I am definitely going to do this the next time I "Have Nothing To Wear

6. Keiko Lynn: This look is perfect for someone like me who only has 2 eyeshadows: pink and glitter. (Literally.)

7. Vine: This little girl is just too cute! I am currently looking online for a place to purchase a "Skylynn Grier" of my own.

8. Fashionista: Team USA Winter Olympics Opening Ceremony Outfits. One word: Wow. (Disclaimer: I actually really like them!)

9. YouTube: And of course, The Fault In Our Stars movie trailer. I am on the verge of tears watching, even thinking, about it. June 6 cannot come soon enough. Okay? Okay.

What A Stud

Hello lovelies! I spent the last few days evaluating A Glamorous Revelation and it's purpose and discovering what it is exactly I would like it to become. I did a little revamping to the site (check out the About Me section!) and a lot of revamping to the content that I can't wait for you all to see. I bought this studded sweater last month at a huge end of the year sale (85% off!!) with the intention of wearing it with all neutral accessories. I soon changed my mind when I saw a similarly embellished sweater styled with neon shoes, a bright bag, and bold accessories on Instagram (top). Instead of all the colors being overwhelming, like I would expect them to be, they compliment each other as a whole outfit, while standing out on their own.

Deal or No Deal: Missoni Scarf

Walmart $10
Missoni $98

When I go shopping, I take on one of two personalities: the incredibly stingy shopper who won't spend more than $10 on any one item, or the shopaholic who buys anything and everything in sight, regardless of the cost. More often than not, I am the former. Instead of breaking the bank on costly designer duds, I find alternatives that have what I love about a particular designer item with a much friendlier price tag.

I bought this zigzag scarf (right) with a matching set of gloves and hat from Walmart for $10 and I found this Missoni scarf (left) on sale for $98 on

Seeing Red

It's only four days into the spring semester and I can already tell it's going to be a stressful five months. Although most of my classes are the same, I have added on two new courses and have new responsibilities (like this blog!) to add to the ones I had before. I rarely wear red lipstick, usually opting for the more subtle, ultra-femme look of rose pink, but recently I've had a change of heart. I was surprised by how flattering such a bright shade could be since my experience with bright lipsticks has not been the best (they tend to make my already large lips look bee-stung swollen). The double dose of red is just enough to standout on a casual day at school.

It's Baaack!: The Fosters

Thanks to the likes of DVR and Netflix, I rarely watch TV shows during their original run. I find it more convenient to lock myself in my room on a long weekend and watch all the seasons of a particular show (most recently, The Carrie Diaries and Downton Abbey) in one setting than to sit in front of a television for an hour once a week, for twelve weeks at a time. ABC Family's The Foster's, however, is an exception. I have been hooked since the very first episode I watched; partly because of the great concept and partly because of the good looking characters. I don't think I have been this giddy about a show since I went through my Dance Moms phase! Who else is excited about The Fosters winter premiere tonight?!

The Gold Standard: 2014 Golden Globes

haven't watched all of the movies and tv shows nominated for Golden Globes (kudos to anyone who has!), therefore all of my opinions regarding nominees are ridiculously biased. I am pulling for American Horror Story: Coven, Orange is the New Black, The Big Bang Theory, and Modern Family in each of their categories even though, in most cases, I haven't watched any of the other shows they are up against. Awards Shows are one of they few times where I am completely content with having an unfair opinion.

In reality, the Golden Globes are based on the subjective and very likely biased opinions of a hand-full of media personnel. There is no point system or definite scoring guide that determines who gets nominated or who wins each award. In fact, the winners are partially determined by who actually attends the event and who does not. Kind of messed up, right?  Regardless, I'll be tuning in Sunday night for the Red Carpet and the Awards Show hoping the hand-full of media personnel have the same ridiculously biased opinions as I do.

My Little Obsession: Sparkly Heels

It's very easy for me to go shopping with a particular item in mind and get sidetracked by something I accidentally come across along the way. I saw these black, sparkly heels while shopping for Dr. Martins and couldn't resist trying them on. After parading around the store in them for about five minutes, I concluded that they are the perfect pair of party shoes. I don't go to parties much, so within those five minutes I also concluded that I would start living a partying lifestyle just to have an excuse to buy sparkly heels. If I had bought them, I would pair them with harem pants, a mid-thigh length pencil skirt, or corduroy shorts. Sparkly heels are surprisingly versatile... Or maybe I just wear everything with anything and tell myself that means it's versatile.

It's Baaack!: Pretty Little Liars

Today was supposed to be the first day back at school, but the streets are covered in snow and I am snuggled up in bed. I am thankful for the extra day since I spent most of my Christmas break trying to catch up on Pretty Little Liars in time for the winter premiere, which airs tomorrow night, instead of doing work. I originally intended to make this a "preview post" in anticipation of the premiere, but when I saw some of the Instagram posts of Ashley Benson and Troian Bellisario (who play Hanna Marin and Spencer Hastings, respectively) I decided to do some tweaking.

When a possible poster for the winter premiere of  Pretty Little Liars was leaked, Ashley Benson (@itsashbenzo) and Troian Bellisario (@sleepinthegardn) expressed their distaste with ABC Family's photo choice and editing (pictured above). I find it very important for people to have strong feelings and express those strong feelings, regardless of whom it may offend, and it makes me happy to see that Ashley and Troian feel the same way. I have gained major respect for the cast members of Pretty Little Liars.

Troian is (finally!) on this month's cover of Seventeen Magazine (available wherever magazines are sold) so make sure to pick up a copy, and the Pretty Little Liars Collection by AĆ©ropostale is now available online and in stores. I plan to do a full review of the clothing line in the future, so be looking out for it!

Orchid Is The New Black

I am happy to say that the Pantone 2014 Color Of The Year is orchid. Not only does orchid make up a significant amount of my closet, it is one of my favorite colors to wear. Shoes, pants, nail, earrings, makeup, you name it; I would wear it in orchid. Orchid (along with many other shades of pink and purple) has become an unofficial staple in my closet. Though I wear orchid on a somewhat regular basis, I always seem to be pairing it with the same two or three colors so I am looking forward to seeing how everyone else wears orchid in 2014.

New Year Resolutions: 2014

Every time the New Year rolls around, a host of people vow to do [insert exotic activity here] more often or stop [insert bad habit here]. New Year resolutions are notoriously hard to maintain and are usually forgotten by the time spring break arrives, yet people continue to make them. There is something about the New Year that makes keeping up with a daily journal, completing the Juice Cleanse, and backpacking across Europe seem entirely achievable. This year, I've decided to take the short and sweet approach when making my list of New Year resolutions (pictured above) in hopes of actually accomplishing all of them by the end of 2014.

Here are some interesting New Year resolutions that celebrities have tweeted in the past. Ashton Kutcher's and Mark Hoppus's are my favorites. Happy New Year!!
